Holiday at The Kvarner Archipelago

A holiday home at the Kvarner Archipelago

Vrboska With mountains, islands, coastal landscape, not to mention its nature and national parks, the Kvarner Archipelago is one of Croatia’s most interesting holiday destinations. A mild climate, the sun drenched world of the islands, ancient towns to be visited, Mediterranean food, cliffs and national parks are just some of the highlights of a holiday in the Kvarner Archipelago. It is an ideal area for boating, making it very popular with boating enthusiasts.

The inviting beaches and sheltered coves of the Kvarner Achipelago make it ideal for those simply wishing a relaxing hoiday. The nature reserves of North Velebit, Risnjak and the unique Plitvice lakes also attract trekkers. But the Kvarner Archipelago is not just a summer resort. In winter the extensive ski slopes in the Gorski Kotar Mountains offer a unique experience: skiing with a sea view. Renting a holiday apartment or a holiday house here guarantees you everything: history, sporting activities and a wonderfully varied landscape.

The landscape

Nationalpark PlitvitzerThe Kvarner Archipelago is a vast ocean bay with a group of islands, bordered by the peninsula of Istria to the northwest and by the Croatian coastal landscape to the east. The north is crowned by the “Gorski kotar” mountain range and in the south are the Velebit Mountains. The islands of the Kvarner Archipelago are enormously attractive, particularly Croatia’s largest island Krk, Cres and Pag and Rab with its beautiful harbour town.

Crikvenica

CrikvenicaCrikvenica is situated on the north coast of Croatia, 37 km south of Rijeka. It enjoys a mild climate, thanks to the protection from winds afforded by mount Kapela and the island of Krk. It was because of the mild climate that 100 years ago a health resort was established here targeted at people with breathing problems. The beach at Crikvenica is built up of sand deposits. Crikvenica’s Riviera, stretching from Jadranovo to Selce, offers endless possibilities for whatever kind of holiday one chooses. Search for holiday homes in Crickvenica

The island of Cres

Cres is Croatia’s most diverse – and most undervalued – island. Long and narrow it stretches southwards in the Kvarner archipelago, surrounded by sea and mountain crests. Cres has very special vegetation: in the north there is dense forest, in the centre there are olive groves and vineyards and in the south the dominant vegetation is bushes, green plains and meadows. One of the island’s wonders is the infinite number of beaches, particularly in the area between Cres town and the bay of Ustrinc. Holiday houses at the island of Cres

Rab

Rab A holiday on this island is for both mind and body. In the northeast you are confronted by a golden rocky landscape, but as you move west the summer breeze carries the scent of pine and the landscape transforms. Rab is one of the most popular destinations of the Kvarner archipelago. Romantic churches and gothic houses, renaissance facades and proud church towers gleam in the island’s beautiful little towns. A particular pearl is the medieval town of Rab, whose harmony and beauty are well worth a long visit on your holiday.

Krk

Krk The island of Krk is the largest island in The Kvarner archipelago and in the Adriatic. The flat, wooded, fertile and inhabited part of the island is situated north of Vrbnick-Punat. Because of its traditions, folk costumes, handicraft, archaic storytelling tradition, songs and folk ballads Krk is especially interesting ethnographically. The coastal area in the southwest is sheltered by coniferous forests and is perfect for relaxation after a tough day of sightseeing. Holiday homes on Krk
