Business hours (Shops and banks): No official business hours. During the summer most shops are open from 7 am to 9 pm. The rest of the year business hours are more limited. Banks are open from 7 am to 7pm from Monday to Friday and on Saturday until 1 pm. Some banks in larger cities are also open on Sunday.

KunaCurrency/Methods of payment: Kuna (1 Kuna = 100 Lipa). Coin denominations: 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 Lipa and 1, 2 and 5 Kuna. Banknotes: 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 Kuna. Money can be exchanged in banks, post offices, exchange bureaus and most travel agencies. Travellers cheques can be cashed in banks. Credit cards such as American Express, Visa, Diners and Eurocard are widely accepted. Be aware, though, that some places will only accept cash.

Language: Croatian. English and German are widely spoken. Also Italian on the coast.

Climate: Croatia has two climatic regions. On the mainland there is a temperate continental climate, plus a mountain climate. The coast has a Mediterranean climate with many days of sunshine: dry, hot summers, humid, mild winters. Average temperatures: January 0-2ºC, August 19-23ºC. Average temperatures on the coast: January 6-11ºC, August 21-27ºC. Average water temperature: 12ºC in winter and 25ºC in summer.

Visas and documents:Danish citizens do not need a visa to enter Croatia. You must produce a valid passport.

Customs regulations: There are extensive restrictions for entry into Croatia. Check with the Croatian embassy.

General information: Bring your health insurance card. Travel insurance is advisable. Part of the land still has a problem with land mines. It is essential therefore to consult with a local expert before going off the beaten track.
